Politicians from the county will be among those attending Baroness Thatcher’s funeral at St Paul’s Cathedral in London.
One of the invitees, Cllr Matt Lynch, said he was pleased but “a bit surprised” to have received an invitation.
Cllr Lynch, who has represented the St Andew’s and St Peter’s ward in Kettering since 2009, knew the then Mrs Thatcher during her time as Prime Minister.
“It’s a really sad day for this country,” he said. “We have lost such a great person.
“I don’t think we will see another person of her capabilities in my lifetime.
“I am just hoping the funeral will go well and there will be no animosity and we give her the send-off she deserves,” he added.
Wellingborough and Rushden MP Peter Bone, who is also attending, said: “I am pleased to be going to celebrate her life and achievements.”
