The Jog Northants team celebrated the opening of their 50th group this weekend at a training course for new leaders in Stanwick.
The 50 groups across the county regularly attract 400 joggers every week.
Some are joining the groups to start a new hobby and socialise, others may be more ambitious and want to take part in road races.
Jogging groups have recently started in Thrapston, East Carlton and Stanwick Lakes to take the programme up to 12 groups in the area and achieve the ‘50’ milestone across the county.
New groups are starting up all the time, with the next one due to open at Kettering Town Harriers on Thursday, October 18, from 5.45pm to 6.45pm.
Sarah McVeigh, Jog Northants co-ordinator, said: “We are thrilled that so many people are pulling on their trainers to get fit and have fun.
“Our jog group sessions are always supervised and start with basic walk/jog sessions – so we start from the very beginning.”
Jog Northants works with Run England to help and encourage more people to run, and to run more often.
