A council says a pungent smell noticed by scores of residents was simply the result of farmers tending their fields.
Kettering council confirmed some people had been in touch with environmental health teams last weekend (August 2 to 5) to complain about the stench.
But a spokesman said: “It’s just part of the farming process. This is a very agricultural area.
“It depends on the wind direction as to whether it’s wafting in Kettering’s direction or not.”
