A ‘Best of British’ campaign is being launched by East Northamptonshire Council to show off the diverse range of events taking place across the district in 2012.
Steven North, leader of East Northamptonshire Council, said: “We have developed this programme to capitalise on the major events taking place this year, including the Jubilee, and to promote the wealth of natural beauty, culture and heritage we have in our district.
“This programme forms the final stage of the “escape, explore, enjoy” theme from the 2010 tourism strategy and will promote existing and new events taking place in the district.”
Karen Williams, the council’s tourism promotion and development officer, said: “We are really excited about the Best of British programme, which includes regular favourites such as the Oundle International Festival and the Rushden Cavalcade.
“It will also include a new walking festival taking place from June 11 to 17 to encourage residents and visitors to enjoy the health benefits of walking in the countryside. There really is something for everyone.”
