Kettering Council has retained the Park Mark Safer Parking Award for its off-street car parks in Kettering town centre for another year.
The Park Mark Safer Parking Award is given to parking facilities which have achieved the requirements of a risk assessment conducted by the police and the British Parking Association.
The Safer Parking Scheme is an initiative of the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) and is aimed at reducing crime and the fear of crime in parking areas.
Cllr Derek Zanger, portfolio holder for regeneration, said “The retention of this award, independently assessed by both the British Parking Association and the Association of Chief Police Officers, clearly demonstrates the investments that Kettering Borough Council make into ensuring that all its car parks are maintained safely.”
The council has put a number of measures in place in its bid to help reduce fear of crime in parking areas in the town.
Car parks with the award can use signage featuring the distinctive Park Mark tick so drivers know they are safe to park there.
