THE chief executive of the county council will meet the Prime Minister tonight to launch an initiative to tackle the county’s 1,200 ‘neighbours from hell’ who cost the taxpayer £9 million.

Dr Paul Blantern will represent the county at a reception to launch the Troubled Families Initiative, a joint scheme between the Government and local authorities to offer intensive help to the families estimated to cost the state £75,000 a year each.

The Government has offered local authorities 40 per cent of the cost, primarily based on outcomes, such as getting children back into school or parents back into employment.
