We know it’s only August, but if you have a talented child it’s already time to start thinking about Christmas.
Tiny Tim is one of the roles up for grabs in the professional production of A Christmas Carol at the Corby Cube this year.
Director Gary Sefton is looking for local girls and boys to play a variety of roles in the adaptation of Dickens’ classic and well-loved story that will run at the Core theatre from Thursday, December 8, to Saturday, December 31.
The roles include Tiny Tim and an urchin girl, who both need to look seven to eight years old and two more boys and a girl who should look 10 to 12 years old.
The young actors will be cast in teams that will rotate between performances.
Gary said: “The boys and girls need to have good movement, singing and acting ability, as well as being enthusiastic and having bags of personality.”
Rehearsals start in October, and children must be available for rehearsals and performances as scheduled until the show finishes.
More information about the roles and rehearsals dates is included in the audition registration pack.
The auditions take place on Sunday, September 4, with slots available from 11am to 6pm and parents must pre-register, by Monday, August 29. Audition places will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
They will take the form of workshops where the young actors will get the opportunity to work with the director and work on the play.
They will be required to learn some lines before the audition and come wearing clothes that they can move in, and they should be prepared to sing.
Director Gary Sefton said: “We all know auditions can be a bit scary but this will be a really fun day! All I ask is that the young people bring enthusiasm and plenty of energy. Some experience would be useful but not entirely necessary. I had a great time in Corby working on Hansel and Gretel – and I can’t wait to be back with A Christmas Carol.”
