Coronation Street star Jennie McAlpine, who plays the part of Fiz, is to be the celebrity guest at the Pride in Northamptonshire 2013 Awards night.

The annual awards, organised by the Northants Telegraph and our sister paper the Chronicle and Echo, are a celebration which recognises all that is best about our county.

And we are inviting readers to nominate special people and organisations who deserve recognition.

Editor of the Northants Telegraph Neil Pickford said: “Pride in Northamptonshire will honour the extraordinary work carried out by individuals and groups throughout the year.

“That tireless work often takes place under the radar, out of the public gaze, but we feel they deserve their efforts to be recognised publicly.

“Do you know somebody exceptional in your community? Do you know an adult, or child, who deserves to be honoured?”

There are 11 categories including Young Achiever of the year, Inspire a Generation, Volunteer of the Year, Service with a Smile, Young Charity Fundraiser of the Year, Fundraiser of the Year, Courage Award, Care in the Community, Unsung Hero/Heroine, Northamptonshire Community Award and the Hard Work and Determination Award.

The winners will be announced at a gala presentation ceremony and dinner at Wicksteed Park Pavilion, Kettering, on Friday, September 27, and the deadline for entries is Sunday, September 1.
