Workers at RS Components in Corby have given an animal charity a boost by collecting 34 boxes of much-needed items and rolling up their sleeves and helping out.

Over the Christmas period, staff at the firm’s Birchington Road complex donated cat and dog food, treats, toys, towels and blankets to Nanna, Northampton Animals Needing Nurturing and Adoption, at Irthlingborough.

The goods were delivered to the charity before Christmas when 22 employees volunteered to provide help and support by walking dogs and cleaning out and repairing pens.

Carleigh Wishart, regional lifecycle planner at RS Components, said: “It was a great day and we all loved getting hands-on and helping the charity out.

“I know Nanna was very grateful for our donations and work, especially with the unloading of a lorry full of animal feed.”

Carla Alderman, honorary secretary of the charity, said: “Since we founded Nanna, we have helped more than 7,000 animals find new homes or get the nursing care they need.

“As a charity, we rely solely on donations and volunteer help so the kind support given by the people from RS Components means a great deal to us.”

Founded in 2004, Nanna’s works to find new homes and provide nursing care for animals in need.

The charity’s site, also known as Higglety Pigglety Farm Rescue, is home to many animals including cats, dogs, rabbits, hedgehogs, pigs, rats, hamsters and even a fox named Pancake.
