The woman who is looking after a dog that was so badly abused and neglected he is now blind is appealing for help to pay for his treatment.

Lainy Meechan, of Corby, who nurses abused dogs and horses back to health, decided to look after Nori, an akita, after agreeing to going to see him in the dog pound in Leeds.

She said: “In 30-odd years of looking after horses and dogs, Nori’s abuse was one of the worst I’d seen.

“How could I say no to him when he had obviously had no love in his life?”

Nori was found abandoned on the street and has been so badly abused he will be blind for life and his face is disfigured.

Lainy said: “I am slowly building up his immune system, his teeth had been kicked and broken, and he was emaciated when I got him.

“But he is doing so well now, he is a loving, gentle soul.

“You would think that after what he’s gone through he would hate people but he loves everyone.

“Because of the way he was treated and now being blind he is having to learn how to use his senses such as smell and hearing.

“He smelt some flowers the other day which was lovely to see.

“He needs treatment on his face with a cold infrared laser and I have been offered one by a firm for £3,000, which sounds like a lot but is very cheap.

“I’m going to pay to learn how to use it but need help raising the rest of the money.

“The laser will then be used to help other dogs in the future.”

Nori has a Facebook page, and details of how to donate are on it.
