Corby to light beacon to celebrate Queen’s 90th birthday

Corby will join the rest of the country in lighting a beacon to celebrate the Queen’s 90th birthday.

The celebration will take place at Coronation Park in Cottingham Road at 7.30pm on Thursday, April 21, with the mayor in attendance along with other Corby Council representatives.

Mayor of Corby Peter McEwan said: “It is an honour to be able to join the rest of the country in celebrating Her Majesty’s 90th birthday.

“Turning 90 years of age is a milestone event and I hope that lots of residents will turn out to join us in lighting the Queen’s beacon.”

Residents have also been invited to a celebration event from 6pm where the Deep Roots Tall Trees Choir will perform at the Our Woods launch event.

Our Woods is a festival of exciting events in the woodlands of Corby, including, music, art workshops, storytelling, contemporary dance and walks with a difference.
