Impressed with Corby’s unique spirit, international singer and recording artist, Barb Jungr, has been inspired to write and perform a collection of songs about the town with local musicians and singers.
Deep Roots, Tall Trees: A Corby Song Cycle pays homage to the strong heritage and successful aspirations of Corby. People who love to sing and who love Corby are invited to take part in the performance by coming to a first rehearsal session at The Core at Corby Cube on Wednesday, September 26, from 7pm to 8.30pm.
The performance and the project behind it have been co-ordinated by Corby Community Arts, who have been active in promoting the arts in Corby for more than three decades.
Its director Kate Dyer, said, “Listening to the songs develop between Barb and our local musicians has been inspirational.
“I can really hear the spirit of the town in them. Now the choir is starting to rehearse and that is even more exciting. The concert is going to be just terrific.”
Deep Roots Tall Trees: A Corby Song Cycle will be performed on Saturday, November 10, at 7.30pm and marks The Core’s second birthday.
Tickets are £14 and concessions are £12. They can be booked by calling the ticket line on 01536 470470 or by visiting www.thecorecorby.com.
