The decision to walk 90 miles was by far his biggest undertaking so far.

Mr Davies previously walked Hadrian’s Wall for two charities in 2014, and so had some idea of what walking long distances involved.

The pair walked various routes over two weekends, including the Brampton Valley Way between Northampton and Market Harborough, plus Grafham, Pitsford and Rutland waters.

Mr Davies, who represents Brambleside ward on Kettering Council, was very keen to support the charity.

He said: “It was a fantastic opportunity to raise vitally important funds for Great Ormond Street Hospital.

“The hospital provides life-saving and often groundbreaking services for the children in their care.”

“Walking 90 miles was a challenge for us both, but we are very grateful for everyone’s generosity to such an excellent cause.”

The pair are now looking at planning their next fundraising challenge in 2017.
