Corby’s first festive market is set to be a Christmas cracker with 35 traders already signed up to take part.

It will be take place on Saturday, December 14, and Sunday December 15, outside the Cube, with Corby Council providing marquees for up to 40 stalls.

As well as a hog roast, there will be traders selling real ale and mulled wine, Christmas cakes, mincemeat pies, crafts, jewellery, handbags, chocolates, cheeses and toiletries.

Leader of the council Cllr Tom Beattie said: “We are very pleased with the uptake of traders so far and we’re sure that we will be able to put on a real Christmas treat.

“We look forward to more traders booking their stalls and for this to be the first of many Christmas markets in James Ashworth VC Square.”

Corby Radio will broadcast from the market, the town’s model railway club will be setting up a 100ft track and actors from the show Beauty and the Beast will be paying a visit.

A creche will open in Corby pool for children aged from three months to eight on both days, costing £3 for an hour and £5 for an hour and 55 minutes. To book the creche call 01536 464643.
