Members of the Rotary Club of Corby Phoenix were at Morrisons supermarket in the town today (Friday, May 10) collecting for the British Red Cross.

The charity provides fire and emergency support and has a vehicle based in the Corby and Kettering areas, regularly carrying out home fire safety checks for the elderly and housebound.

The British Red Cross also provides therapeutic care for vulnerable people, hospital support, first call care in the home and practical and emotional support in times of crisis.

Rotary club president, Peter Brotherton, said: “We don’t realise that the Red Cross, which we associate with disaster relief and all sorts of major international projects, actually works on behalf of individuals and communities right here on our doorsteps.”
