The Royal Tandoori restaurant in Rockingham Road, Corby, has been named runner-up in the prestigious Tiffin Cup competition.

It will receive a certificate and embroidered Tiffin Cup 2014 chef’s jacket to mark the achievement.

The cup is awarded every year by a cross-party group of MPs to celebrate the quality and diversity of South Asian food in Britain and to raise money for the charity World Vision.

The Royal Tandoori was nominated by Corby and East Northants MP Andy Sawford. He said: “It is such a prestigious award and to be honoured in this way is testament to the fantastic efforts of the staff.”

MP Keith Vaz, the co-chairman of the Tiffin Cup, said: “We are delighted that Royal Tandoori has been named runner-up in the Tiffin Cup 2014. This is a great tribute not just to the nomination of local MP Andy Sawford but also to the constituency of Corby and East Northamptonshire as a whole.”
