A snack company partly based in Corby has acquired the firm which produces some of Britain’s most popular crisp brands.

Intersnack – which owns the Pom Bear factory on Pasteur Courtyard, Corby – has taken over KP Snacks in a deal thought to be worth more than £500 million.

German Intersnack will take over the Hula Hoops, KP Nuts and Wheat Crunchies brands from United Biscuits in the agreement, which is expected to be finalised early next year.

Any implications for the Corby factory are as yet unclear.
