Corby man dies in road accident

A 50-year-old man from Corby has died in a road accident.

Stephen Andrew Moore was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision at 12.10pm on Tuesday (July 23) on the A47 Leicester Road at Ayston.

The collision involved a blue Mini Cooper, driven by Mr Moore, and a blue DAF truck. The accident happened about 300 metres east of the A47 junction with the old Leicester Road. The driver of the truck was not injured.

Detective Constable Seamus Burns said: “The Mini was travelling towards Leicester and the truck in the opposite direction towards Peterborough at the time of the collision.

“We would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision or saw either vehicle beforehand to get in touch.”

Anyone with information is asked to call 101 and follow the instructions to leave a message for an officer. When prompted they should key in the identification number 1504.
