A Corby gym with hundreds of members has re-opened after a huge makeover.
The facelift at Lodge Park Sports Centre in Shetland Way took six weeks to complete and means the gym is now twice the size.
It has been extended into the former aerobics studio on the ground floor, creating extra room for more fitness equipment.
The refurbishment has been paid for by Corby Council and new equipment includes the latest treadmills, bikes, rowers, elliptical trainers and climb mills with integrated TVs.
There are also new indoor bikes for the popular spin classes the centre provides.
The borough council’s lead member for community, Cllr John McGhee, said: “This is an exciting time for the sports centre and our customers.
“We are committed to providing the best for those who use the gym and we are always encouraging new people to come along and use our facilities.
“The redevelopment is an exciting addition to what Lodge Park Sports Centre has to offer and will provide that extra something to our loyal and new customers.”
The 25-strong Corby Health and Fitness Team have been trained on the new Xcube, which incorporates functional and body weight training.
Staff will have additional training, enabling them to offer services to people referred to the centre by their GP, as well as helping members with cardiac rehabilitation, weight loss, general fitness and sports training.
Upstairs, the community room has been transformed into a studio which means the centre still has four areas for in excess of 85 classes held at Lodge Park Sports Centre every week.
