A talented musician from Corby is encouraging local children to learn through song and stories.

Acoustic guitarist Stevie Rigsby, who was last year’s Creative Spirit of Corby award winner, is turning his hand to entertaining youngsters at his energetic Singing and Story sessions at community venues across the town.

The events for pre-school children and their parents or carers take place at St Columba’s Church Hall in Studfall Avenue at 10am every Tuesday and at Beanfield Community Centre in Beanfield Avenue at 10am on Thursdays.

Car parking is available at both venues.

Both sessions cost £2 for the first child and £1 for each other sibling.

Stevie, who has been gigging around the region for many years and is a popular Corby Radio presenter, said: “The sessions are a loud and fun packed 45 minutes of popular action songs, nursery rhymes and silly stories.

“Then we have a section with me playing the guitar and all the children joining in with shakers. I also do sessions at local pre-schools in the town.

“I was voted the Creative Spirit of Corby last year and will be singing at this year’s Spirit of Corby Awards which take place on September 19 at the Corby Cube.”

Newcomers are always welcome to attend and there is no need to book in advance.
