A five-year-old girl has had her flowing locks chopped off after being inspired by her nan.

India Hopkins, of Corby, has already beaten her fundraising target of £200 with more money still to come in.

The funds, and the 11 inches of India’s hair, will go to the Little Princess Trust charity which provides real hair wigs to boys and girls being treated for cancer.

India’s mum Rebecca said: “She was inspired to do this as her nan is currently battling cancer and has lost her hair due to treatment.

“Also a child from her school is also going through the same battle and so she asked if she could give them some of her hair.

“I am incredibly proud of my daughter for doing such a selfless thing at the age of five, it’s overwhelming.”
