A Corby couple who brazenly walked out of a shop with two flat-screen TVs worth £1,600 without paying have been spared jail.

Darren and Anna Dallimore, of Howard Avenue, were found guilty of stealing the TVs from Argos Clearance Bargains in September last year despite protesting their innocence.

Kettering Magistrates’ Court heard yesterday (Wednesday) how a stock check at the store found two 49in Sony TVs were missing.

Upon checking CCTV, the couple were seen pushing the items around the store in a trolley.

Anna Dallimore, 35, was seen talking with a staff member at the checkout before her husband, 42, pushed the trolley away from the till area.

They then exited the store with the items without paying.

The pair gave a series of ‘no comment’ answers when questioned by police about the incident, with Darren Dallimore refusing to accept it was they who were on the CCTV footage.

Sentencing, chairman of the bench Janet Whitby handed Darren Dallimore a 12-month community order and told him to carry out 100 hours of unpaid work.

He was also ordered to pay compensation of £799 and a victim surcharge of £60.

Anna Dallimore was given a three-year conditional discharge.

She was also ordered to pay £799 in compensation, with a victim surcharge of £15.
