A keen amateur chef has had one of her recipes chosen by Marks & Spencer.
Samantha Haas, of Corby, saw the competition on the retailer’s website and, along with more than 10,000 people, sent in her recipe. She said: “The competition was to coincide with the launch of their Simply range and had to use ingredients that would be in the range. I made a lamb cutlet dish with minted pea puree, crushed potatoes and a vegetable medley. I was really pleased when it was chosen, especially as there were only four overall winners.”
A film crew went to Samantha’s house to film her making the dish for an advert which is now showing on M&S TV. She said: “They were here for the whole day. I don’t know what the neighbours thought as there were cables coming out of the bedroom window.”
She runs her own website www.samanthas-supper.com and has published an e-book, Caravan Suppers, but her ambition is to own a small bistro. Samantha said: “Cooking is a passion of mine, I love experimenting and going to farmers’ markets to see what looks good. Keith Floyd is my hero, he made cooking fun and unstuffy.”
At the moment she is writing to restaurants asking for curry ideas for a book she is compiling. A keen supporter of the Windmills charity, which helps disadvantaged children and families, 10 per cent of the proceeds will go to the charity.
