Corby actor Brendan Coyle is returning to television screens in the fourth series of Downton Abbey which starts on Sunday (September 22).
Brendan, who recently made a promotional DVD for the Lakelands Hospice in the town, plays valet John Bates in the hit ITV drama.
The opening feature length episode will continue the story of the Crawley family and their servants in the early 1920s.
Bates and his wife Anna are living happily in a cottage in the grounds.
Brendan said: “Life is a bed of roses. We were all trying to predict what was going to happen. But nobody could, especially as each series varies widely from the one previous.
“All I will say is that something happens that shakes their world and has serious consequences.”
The latest series of Downton Abbey provides Brendan with another meaty storyline.
He said: “As an actor you want to be playing scenes like this all the time. But when you get them it’s just great.”
