Club swimmers making'¨a splash in county contest

In January and February, Kettering Amateur Swimming Club swimmers took to the water at Corby International Pool and returned with a haul of awards.

Jo Freeman, from Kettering Amateur Swimming Club, said: “This has been a really successful year where personal bests tumbled right, left and centre – more than 80 in total.

“Almost 40 finals were reached, a hatful of medals were won and some East Midlands qualifying times were achieved as well as club records broken. It’s an exciting time at the club at the moment.”

Jacqueline Farrow, head coach, added: “We’ve spent a lot of time putting in place the training sessions and coaching regimes to help the swimmers to improve their times and it’s great to see that all the hard work is beginning to pay off.”

After becoming Swim21 accredited two years ago and the excitement of celebrating the centenary of the club in 2014, KASC says it has now been focusing more on bringing through the young swimming talents of the community.

Gemma Simms, Junior Head Coach, said: “Now we have a thriving Junior Academy in place we have lots more younger swimmers coming through to get qualification times for the County Championships, Regionals and Nationals.
