The Football Academy Programme at Tresham College has been accepted into the Category 1 tier of the new English Colleges Football Academy (ECFA).

Only colleges who meet the highest standards of facilities and provision for their players can enter the new ECFA structure. Principal Stuart Wesselby said: “Our aim is to provide excellence. Being able to meet the hands of elite level players is something which we are proud of at Tresham and hope to continue into the future.

“This is a great opportunity for the college and our sports staff to be recognised on a national stage for excellence via the ECFA Category 1 license. I wish the team and staff every success for the coming season.”

The director of the Football Academy at Tresham, Jonathan Heathcote, said: “This is great recognition of what we offer here for young talented players, showing it is of very highest standard both on and off the field.”

He added: “We are very grateful to Kevin Ingram and Corby Town FC for allowing us to work alongside them to further enhance the development of young players from 16-21 years of age.”
