Asmall band of songbirds from the Rushden Chichele Club delighted the residents of Darsdale Residential Home in Raunds earlier this month.

The numbers in the singing group were small but the quality was in the sound produced and in the backing provided by the group’s excellent pianist Robert Tucker, who works alongside the organist, composer and director of music at St Mary’s Church, Higham Ferrers, Tony Edwards.

The residents enjoyed te performance. One of the oldest residents at the home particularly enjoyed the evening. He was 105 years old and joined in the singing heartily, prolonging the ends of lines with great thought and appreciation.
