Have your say

I wish to respond to the letter from Joan Judge in the Evening Telegraph of January 6.

Miss Judge appears to accuse the rider of impersonating a police officer, which is a serious criminal offence, by virtue of her hi-visibility vest and tack. I recently purchased identical equipment for my wife and her horse. These items are endorsed by numerous police forces, and are worn for safety, not to impersonate police officers.

This woman should have more sympathy as a horse owner and not attack this poor woman because she has had a bad experience on the road, and suggesting that her attitude is somehow wrong by wearing hi-vis equipment is crass stupidity on the author’s part.

The suggestion that by wearing this brand of safety wear annoys people is almost laughable.

My wife and her horse will continue to wear it for her safety and for others, so she can be seen.
