Classical musicians get chance to play with professionals

Classical musicians in Corby are being offered the chance to take part in a project with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.

It is being run by Deep Roots Tall Trees, a community choir which has been running for three years, involving internationally-acclaimed singer Barb Jungr, local musicians Heads of Snakes and led by Gareth Fuller.

Kate Dyer, of Corby Community Arts, said: “Deep Roots Tall Trees has the exciting opportunity provided through the Made in Corby Arts Council project to work with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, leading up to a big performance with them at the end of August.

“We are looking for classical musicians to join this project to play and gain professional development. We are interested in violins, violas or any other orchestral instrument.”

Classical musicians interested in taking part are invited to the first workshop weekend which starts tomorrow and runs until Sunday. Further workshops will be held on Saturday, June 28, and Sunday, June 29, before the concert on August 23.
