Children to be heroes... just for one day

YOUNGSTERS are invited to don a cape and costume as they become heroes to raise funds for good causes.

Barnardo’s Big Toddle 2012 is taking place in June and this year’s theme is superheroes.

The toddle is a sponsored walk for children under the age of five, and £6,000 was raised for Barnardo’s last year thanks to Northamptonshire youngsters.

Barnardo’s Midlands fundraiser Pauline Clark said: “It really is a simple fun way for young children to play a major role in helping us turn around lives.”

Families and nursery groups can organise their Barnardo’s Big Toddle event in the garden or a local park, or attend one of several walks taking place nationwide.

Barnardo’s run 75 community based services in the Midlands region supporting 26,000 children, young people and their families affected by poverty, abuse, disability and serious illness.

Last year, more than 300,000 children countrywide put their best foot forward for the toddle.
