Children were thrown out of their buggies and an elderly man injured in a chase in town.

A man believed to be shoplifting from the 99p store in Gold Street, Northampton, was pursued by a member of staff as he ran into St Peter’s Walk.

He ran into a group of shoppers which caused two children to be thrown out of their buggies. They both have minor injuries. An elderly man also fell to the ground in the incident and banged his head, also causing a minor injury.

The offender is described as a black man in his late teens with a slim build. He was wearing a grey baseball-cap and a grey tracksuit, and was carrying a 99p store carrier bag which he dropped when he ran into the group.

The incident happened on Tuesday, April 28, just after 1.30pm.
