A youngsters’ campaign to get a skate park in their town has moved a step closer to reality.
Rothwell Town Council members have invited a selection of the group of children to a meeting with Kettering Council to discuss the wanted scheme.
The children have a one-ramp park in Well Lane Recreation Ground, but claim it is not enough for the growing community.
In summer it is often full and many are forced to go to skate parks elsewhere such as Desborough and Market Harborough.
In response, the children put together a petition with 250 signatures and have put pressure on the town council to get the facility.
At a town council meeting on Tuesday, members agreed that the children could join them at a meeting with Kettering Council officers.
The meeting will explore what options are available in terms of the scheme and any funding needed for it.
The meeting is set to take place next month.
