A NEW charity shop is appealing for volunteers to help reach its goal of opening six days a week.

The Northamptonshire Association for the Blind harity shop in Wadcroft, Kettering, opened last week to support its Sight Centre next door.

The association received a good response from volunteers and people donating goods but wants to take the next step.

John Wood, general secretary of the association, said: “The shop opened on Tuesday and business has been quite steady so far.

“We’re still looking to recruit some more volunteers, particularly so we can open six days a week.

“At the moment it looks like we’ll need volunteers who can do mornings or who can give some time on a Saturday.

“We had phone calls from people wanting to volunteer and a lot of donations following the previous articles in the Evening Telegraph so that was very good – I think we recruited five volunteers off the back of that.

“All the money we raise goes to the Sight Centre next door and I think people like that.”

Anybody who can help by offering their time or goods such as clothing, furniture and bric-a-brac, can visit the Sight Centre on Tuesdays, Thursdays or Fridays from 10am to 1pm.

They can also call the centre on 01536 522773, call 01604 719193 or email sightcentre@nab.org.uk.
