An English teacher has just published her second book, based on her childhood growing up in South Africa.
Gisela Hoyle has been teaching in Corby for five years, first at Lodge Park and now at The Kingswood School.
Gisela said: “I thoroughly enjoy teaching and living in Corby. The people are friendly and generous and I particularly like the sense of roots people have here.
“As I am a South African who grew up in the expat community of missionaries I have always slightly envied people who feel at home and part of where they live, rather than being outsiders.”
When the Turaco Calls tells the story of two children growing up in South Africa during Apartheid. Gisela said: “The heroine Marta’s circumstances are similar to mine.”
She will be signing copies of the book at Waterstones in Kettering from 10am to 4pm on Saturday, August 25.
