A hospital patients’ group is appealing for members of the public to share their views on Kettering General Hospital ahead of an inspection that was announced today (Thursday).
Healthwatch Northamptonshire, the local consumer champion for health and social care, is asking people to tell them their experiences of Kettering Hospital ahead of the Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspection of the hospital which starts on September 2.
The CQC has announced that KGH will be inspected in the next wave of inspections and as part of the new approach implemented in the last year by the CQC.
The inspection will also look at the improvements made following recommendations on staffing numbers in the previous inspection report published on March 5.
As part of the inspection process the CQC will be holding a public listening event at 6.30pm on Tuesday, September 2, at the Corn Market Hall, London Road, Kettering.
This is an opportunity for people to give their views and experiences of KGH to the inspectors from the CQC.
Healthwatch Northamptonshire also wants to hear views and experiences of KGH’s services and in particular: accident & emergency, medical care (including older people’s care), surgery, intensive and critical care, maternity & family planning, children’s care, end of life care and outpatients.
Rosie Newbigging, chief executive of Healthwatch Northamptonshire, said: “We want to hear from as many people as possible who have experience of KGH. “We welcome the CQC inspection and we hope that the inspection will support the improvements made in recent months. All relevant information that we receive will be passed on to the CQC as part of their inspection programme.
“We want local people to make their voice count.”
