A club set up by Kettering schoolgirls 100 years ago is to hold a centenary lunch.

Kettering High School Old Girls’ Association had its inaugural meeting back in 1915 at what is now Southfield School for Girls.

And now, a century later, the group is preparing to celebrate its milestone at its annual general meeting.

Member Kathleen Haigh said: “The association remained active throughout the Second World War and organised a whist drive to raise funds for the Czech refugee fund.

“The annual lunch and AGM, together with fundraising for local charities and the summer outing, remain fixtures in the old girls’ calendar.

“We would particularly like to invite the youngest old girls who started at the school between 1966 and 1975, as well as those from any other cohort who are not members, to join us.”

The event will be at midday on Saturday, October 3, at the Toller Chapel Meeting Rooms in Meeting Lane, with the buffet lunch at 12.30pm.

The closing date for tickets, which cost £15, is Saturday, September 19.
