Cat shot in stomach by air rifle

A CAT was shot by an air rifle in Clarence Avenue, Northampton.

Police officers are appealing for witnesses to the incident that took place some time between 8am and 6pm on Monday.

The cat’s owners discovered a puncture wound on its stomach. As a result they took the cat to the vet for an x-ray which showed a suspected pellet lodged in the cat’s stomach.

The cat now requires an operation to remove the pellet which is expected to cost several thousand pounds.

Witnesses, or anyone with information, should call Northamptonshire Police on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
