A colourful jousting display was the highlight of a popular attraction which drew crowds of about 1,500 visitors to Rockingham Castle.

The castle hosted the 10th annual Jousting and Medieval Living History event today, Sunday, June 10, to the delight of families.

The Knights of Nottingham made a triumphant return to the castle to put on an exciting display of horsemanship and jousting from days gone by and re-enactors from the Oxford Household provided a fascinating medieval living history village demonstrating skill-at-arms and trades from life in earlier times.

The castle’s operations manager Andrew Norman said: “We’re really excited to be holding this event for the 10th year.

“There’s been a fantastic turn out.”

Mark Lacey of the Knights of Nottingham appeared at the jousting event as the Knight Marshall.

He said: “Rockingham is one of our favourite venues of the year.

“We always get a good crowd - we’re always made to feel welcome here.”

The event also included music and story telling for children and adults.
