Residents at a care home have thanked two organisations following donations to their garden.
Thorndale Care Home, in Malham Drive, Kettering, received a greenhouse from the Rotary Club of Kettering and a garden shed via the Give me Five Scheme run by Anglian Water.
Home manager Joan Spicer said: “So many residents have remembered things to do with gardening we are putting all the memories and tips together into a book, Thorndale Garden Treasures.
“It really is incredible just how many conversations these two items have cultivated here. We really do appreciate the generosity of the donations from the Rotary Club and Anglian Water.”
Up to sixty elderly people in need of 24-hour care live at the home. Residents are now trying their hand again at seed planting and watering, with staff saying both items were increasing residents’ enjoyment and outdoor pleasure.
“It’s certainly working as residents are asking more to visit the garden,” said activity coordinator Jenny Garlick.
“Families and friends are helping us out, getting everything ready for some home-grown summer blooms and vegetables.”
