A Kettering family awoke in shock this morning (Friday, February 28) when a car smashed into the front of their home.

The incident happened after 7am this morning when a silver Vauxhall Astra was in collision with another vehicle in Barnwell Street before hitting the front of the home.

Police officers closed the road for about two hours.

The family, who did not wish to be named, said they were asleep upstairs when they were awoken by a huge bang.

Apart from damaging the exterior wall, the impact caused damage to the inside of the house.

Before hitting the home, and after the initial collision with the other vehicle the Astra also collided with a parked red Peugeot 206 and white Ford Ka. One of those vehicles also belonged to the owner of the damaged house.

A spokesman for Northamptonshire Police said no-one was injured and the incident was being treated as an accident.
