Friends of two teenagers who died in a car crash last week will hold a gathering in their memory.
Ryan Kirk, 19, of Denford Ash, near Thrapston, and Charlotte Filer, 17, of Lilac Place, Kettering, died when Ryan’s Citroen Saxo collided with a Vauxhall Astra on Warkton Road near Grafton Underwood on Tuesday evening.
Both were car enthusiasts and others who share their passion are organising a meeting to take place next month for people to pay their respects.
Calvin Cherry, 19, is organising the event.
He was a close friend of Charlotte’s and runs the Eastern Modified car club, of which Ryan was a member.
Mr Cherry, of Northampton, said: “It will be for family and friends to turn up and remember both Charlotte and Ryan for who they were.
“It’s also a way of raising money for the families, whether for the funeral or afterwards, and to show that there are people who cared about Charlotte and Ryan.
“Charlotte was bubbly and if I was having a down day she would always cheer me up and put a smile on my face.
“I’ve also been told that Ryan was a member of my car club and I do remember seeing a yellow Saxo at one of our events.
“Obviously we both had an interest in cars and I know Charlotte did too.”
He added: “The car club is like a family, we’ve lost two of our own so we will do whatever we can to show our respect.”
The memorial will take place at 7pm on Saturday, February 18, at Nene Valley Retail Park in Towcester Road, Northampton.
Chinese lanterns will be lit and released on the night if it is safe to do so.
Car stickers bearing Charlotte’s and Ryan’s names will be sold to help raise money for their families.
The date, venue and time of the event are subject to change but should be finalised by the end of the month.
