Air cadets have embarked on an ambitious project to restore an old aircraft cockpit.
Members of 422 (Corby) Squadron plan to turn it into a fully working flight simulator.
The cockpit was found by civilian committee member Creena Jones, who approached Spanhoe Airfield for help.
Engineers from the airfield will help the cadets renovate the cockpit so it can be turned into a flight simulator.
Pilot Officer Kev Ritchie RAFVR(T), Officer in Charge at 422 (Corby) Squadron, said: “This is an exciting opportunity for the cadets.
“It will give them not only cockpit familiarisation and flight experience on squadron, but also give them experience in aircraft restoration.
“I would like to extend my thanks to Ms Jones for assisting the squadron in sourcing the cockpit section for the project and also the staff at Spanhoe Airfield for their kind donation and their ongoing support.”
