By-election in Wellingborough

The Conservative Party held a seat on Wellingborough Council at a by-election yesterday.

The by-election was called after Conservative councillor Callum Heckstall-Smith resigned from his seat representing the Swanspool ward.

At the polls yesterday, 27.4 per cent of the 4,418 strong electorate turned out to choose a new representative.

Robert Alfred Hawkes held the seat with 548 votes while 162 people voted for Liberal Democrat candidate Daniel Joseph Jones, 361 voted for Labour candidate Helena Ann Reynolds and 120 people voted for British National Party candidate David Peter Robinson.
