People are being asked to help children’s centres, including one in Wellingborough, by buying a special Christmas bauble.
Action for Children has partnered with homeware retailer, HomeSense, for a Christmas campaign to raise funds for the charity’s children’s centres in Northamptonshire.
The ‘Hang a Bauble’ initiative will run at the Homesense store at St James Retail Park in Northampton until Christmas Eve. Customers will be offered the chance to buy a bauble for £1, on which they can write their name or a special festive message, before hanging on a special HomeSense Christmas tree in the store. All proceeds from the bauble donations will go to Action for Children’s children and family centres in Wellingborough, Bugbrooke, Deanshanger, Middleton Cheney, Roade and Towcester.
The centres offer a variety of drop-in activities to encourage early play and learning opportunities. These include stay and play, messy play, singing and story time sessions. Each children’s centre also offers a range of other services to support local families, including health and parenting advice, adult learning opportunities and help to get back into training or employment.
Catherine Morton, senior corporate fundraiser at Action for Children, said: “We’re thrilled to be working with HomeSense on this initiative. The money raised will help us continue to offer support and guidance for some of Northamptonshire’s most vulnerable children, young people and families.
“We’ve worked with HomeSense on the ‘Hang a bauble’ campaign for the past three years and we are grateful for their continued support. It allows us to engage with shoppers in an imaginative way, whilst raising vital funds to help us continue our work. Last year HomeSense raised an amazing £60,000 nationally and we’re sure the partnership will be even bigger and better this year.”
Jenny Spiers, of HomeSense, said; “At HomeSense, we believe in supporting our local communities and helping children fulfil their potential. With each HomeSense store raising money for local Action for Children projects, it means the money our customers give is re-invested locally - a great way to give something back.”
HomeSense is part of TJX Europe which has had a long-standing relationship with Action for Children, supporting the charity for over a decade.
