A Wollaston company has won a contract to bring sound and vision to a prestigious international conference taking place at sea.
D8 Worldwide Solutions, based at the Scott Bader Innovation Centre, has been asked to supply audio-visual systems and technical support to the world ferry and shipping industry’s leading event for the second year running.
The Ferry Shipping Conference 2015 will be onboard P&O’s Pride of Rotterdam between April 21 and 23, with the vessel sailing from Rotterdam to Hull and back during the event.
Dan Puttnam, a technical director at the business, said: “We’re proud to be once again supplying the most important meeting in the international ferry and shipping industry.
“We’re also thrilled to be continuing our successful relationship with P&O.
“We believe our success is down to a firm commitment to our proud discipline of planning, organising, securing and managing resources to meet project goals and objectives.”
To complement the existing installed sound, lighting and video system, the audio-visual specialist will supply additional 60-inch plasma screens and control, extra loudspeakers and processing, lighting and radio microphones. A team of technicians will be on hand to manage proceedings.
The company has worked with P&O for the past five years providing audio visual to ferries.
The contract win represents the culmination of a busy period for D8 Worldwide Solutions, with recent work including sourcing a wireless streaming camera for a Caribbean cruise ship delivered within three days.
The company has also just installed hearing equipment at several UK theatres, worked at a glitzy awards in London as well as at the BBC Radio 2 Christmas Concert.
The company is part of a hotbed of pioneering businesses based at the Scott Bader Innovation Centre, which provides office space, labs and workshop facilities on flexible terms for growing companies.
There are currently seven offices available ranging from £190 for 90sqft up to £590 for 280sqft.
Mick Judge, senior manager at the centre, said: “Dan and his team are good at what they do and typical of the innovative businesses based at the centre.”
