A supermodel has teamed up with a Wollaston-based company to promote its world-famous footwear.
Agyness Deyn has been working with boot and shoe makers at Dr Martens to create her own limited-edition collaborative collection for the company, which is expected to feature shoes, clothing and accessories.
The collection will be in stores globally by autumn this year.
A spokesman for company said: “Dr Martens is pleased to announce a forthcoming collaboration with world renowned model and style innovator, Agyness Deyn.
“The partnership brings together two British icons, championing individual style and united spirit.
“A modern day international fashion icon, Agyness has never compromised on her unique British style and she is well-renowned for her infamous Dr Martens look.”
The move comes after Agyness modelled for a Dr Martens fashion campaign last year. The Vogue cover girl from Lancashire describes the new collection as “a defining moment of her original style”.
She said: “The brand is a great fit for me, as it stands for strong character and being able to shape your own personal identity.”
Dr Martens recently announced plans to expand its operation at its headquarters in Cobb’s Lane, Wollaston, by taking on new apprentices.
The factory makes the Made In England range which has grown in popularity in Asia and the USA. A year ago it was making 700 pairs of its famous boots per week.
By next month it hopes to be making 1,500 each week.
Wollaston Parish and Northamptonshire County Councillor Sue Homer said: “Bringing jobs back to this area is vital. We need the opportunity to create more jobs in this area.
“From a marketing point of view, this model will raise the profile of the footwear.”
