Children have been dressing up to celebrate a day dedicated to reading.
Pupils at St Peter’s School in Kettering dressed up as their favourite characters from fiction books to mark this year’s World Book Day.
They enjoyed special activities and assemblies focused on the joys of reading and brought their favourite books to school to talk about them.
Maria Chapman, headteacher at the school, said: “Every day should be a celebration of reading but Tuesday was an extra special one because it was also a chance to dress up.
“We have had lively debate about what makes a good book.
“It has been fantastic to hear the children talking about their favourite fictional characters and considering ways to improve their own creative writing too.”
All school children up to the age of 18 are given a £1 voucher on World Book Day, which can be used to buy one of eight specially produced books.
