The organisers of the Carlsberg UK Northamptonshire Food and Drink Awards have promised this year will be the “magnificent seventh”.

Now in its seventh year, the annual awards have grown from four to 18 categories and are the must-enter event for food and drink producers in the county.

Devised by Northamptonshire Enterprise Partnership (NEP)and backed by a host of sponsors, the food and drink awards celebrate all that is great about local produce and drink, and recognise excellence in the county’s dining venues as well as rewarding those who work in the industry.

Speaking at the launch of this year’s awards, NEP chairman John Markham said: “It has long been recognised that Northamptonshire’s economy benefits hugely from the food and drinks sector, currently contributing £1.5 billion each year.”

He added: “The long-running awards are an opportunity to celebrate the talented individuals from a broad range of large and small businesses and their outstanding achievements year after year.”

The launch was held at Whitworth Bros and managing director Roger Butler said: “We are delighted to be sponsoring the awards again this year as it is a great way for us to raise our profile and to show our support for the sector here in the community.”
