Visitors to Brigstock International Horse Trials, held at Rockingham Castle, doubled this year from 4,000 in 2013 to more than 8,000, giving the Corby economy a boost.
Hotels, pubs and restaurants in the borough benefitted from an increase in bookings and companies have already committed to sponsoring the three-day event in 2015.
In 2013, 16 countries were represented by riders but this climbed to 19 at the trials in May, with competitors coming from as far afield as Qatar and India to take part.
Rupert West, director of King West chartered surveyors, the principal sponsor of the horse trials, said: “There is such obvious potential for us as a business, which is why we came on board with it from the start.
“We definitely see our association with this event as a medium to long term investment.”
King West upped its investment for 2014 and the event, to be known next year as the Rockingham International Horse Trials, now looks set to benefit the local economy for years to come.
