Public sector organisations are invited to a breakfast seminar to discuss procurement and apprenticeships.
The event will be held on Friday, from 8am to 9.30am, in Corby Cube and will highlight the benefits of collaborative procurement and apprenticeships.
The event has been organised by the East Midlands Property Alliance (empa) and will be hosted by Corby-based contractor Jeakins Weir.
The organisation empa is a body of East Midlands local authorities whose collaborative procurement arrangements enable them to obtain greater savings, while delivering the same standard of public sector projects with heavy investment in local supply chains. It also has a training academy for apprentices who want to work in construction, offering them on-the-job training and experience. Speakers will include MP for Corby and East Northants Andy Sawford, managing director of Jeakins Weir Alistair Weir and head of empa Alan Coole.
Mr Weir said: “The message I will be aiming to get across is that we want public sector clients to be aware of the empa partners’ commitment to education, apprenticeships and social value on public sector construction projects.”
